I have always had an interest in art and an appreciation for those who were skilled at wood working, after all, I grew up in a family who were experienced craftsman. At a young age, my brother allowed me to use grandpa's jigsaw - at which he got in trouble for not me.
So last year, I wanted to make gifts for some close friends. My oversized charcuterie boards were an overwhelming success. Before I knew it I had a waiting list. Hence, the birth of 40 Grit Creations in 2020. So I have to thank my framily (family + friends = framily) for the encouragement - without you - I would not have taken the leap.
Now why 40 Grit as a name. Two things: "40" I have declared that I will never age past 40 and two, "grit" is in reference to sandpaper.
My first five projects were overseen and meticulously managed by a member of management, however he has since been demoted to labor - assisting in sanding on occasion. I layout the design electronically, cut the wood, create the design with epoxy and finish the functional art piece...#girlpower.
